As a collective we want our members voices to be heard not only within the industry but across Ireland and in government.
Who we are
Human beings are social creatures. It has been scientifically proven that we need each other to survive and thrive, and the PAEI does this with the children and adults in our care.
The PAEI are the Performing Arts Educators of Ireland. We are a newly formed Advocacy Group, with a Voluntary committee. Made up of industry professionals with recognised qualifications, and many years of experiences, we have three main Aims.
To be the voice of our industry. Offering supports to resurrect our businesses, especially during the Covid-19 Crisis where our businesses have been decimated.
To help legitimise & regulate our industry.
To aid in sourcing funding for our industry
What we stand for
We are an essential service. Essential to the children and adults who attended our Dance, Drama, Singing classes. In Ireland, there are a huge number and range of Performing Art schools, with high volumes of children and adults enrolled in our schools. We are currently in the process of collating such data.
We are an all inclusive art forum, and are especially inclusive of vulnerable children, and children with additional needs who attend our schools. Along with dance, drama, singing etc, we teach children life skills, while providing care, encouragement, affection, love, and support in safe environments.
The income we generate filters down to employ full and part time teachers, administrators, hiring of venues such as Theatres & school halls etc. We employ hundreds of additional staff / freelance Artists and Theatre staff all over Ireland when we host our annual Performances, Showcases and events.
We are aware the Arts have been recently been awarded additional funding to help support Artists. This included the mention of actors, designers, musicians & Theatres, who require financial assistance arising from the Covid-19 crisis. However, no mention of Performing Arts Schools has been highlighted. Our businesses have been truly decimated both financially and emotionally. Not all Schools were able to move to an online platform due to on-going issues with rural broadband coverage.
Helping to legitimise our industry, the PAEI’s role would be ensuring all Studio owners / Teachers / Educators who join us have the minimum requirements such as Children First Training / Garda Vetting / Insurance, correct policies and procedures in place for running a Performing Arts school and current policies adhering to government guidelines on Covid-19.
Not only do we need help in resurrecting our businesses, we need to prepare and future proof our industry. We are trying to prepare for any future eventualities that may harm our businesses.
As a group of highly trained professionals, we the PAEI believe, that with Government financial supports and guidance we can achieve our Aims.
